June 23, 1939 - May 11, 2020

SOUTH BEND, IN - Terry Ray Beyer, 80, residing in Sarasota, FL and formerly of South Bend was born June 23, 1939, the son of the late Margaret A. and Raymond A. Beyer. He passed away peacefully on May 11, 2020 while surrounded by his loving family in Sarasota.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kay Bell Beyer, son, Scott A. (Amy) Beyer, daughter, Amy (Thomas) Beyer Decatur, and sister, Becky (Dan) Miller.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Judy Perez.

Terry graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School and Ball State Teacher's College. Terry's talents were many. He was an accomplished videographer for the University of Notre Dame football and basketball teams, a skilled sailor and commodore of Diamond Lake Yacht Club, talented woodcarver and oil painter. He was a humble, kind man who loved his family and friends. Terry was a collector of nature and loved to give to others.

Memorial services will be held at a later date and will be published in the South Bend Tribune at that time.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the wonderful care given by Inspired Living Memory Care, Tidwell Hospice, and Sarasota Community Church, all of Sarasota. If desired, friends may make memorial donations to any of these places. The Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel is assisting the Beyer family with arrangements. South Bend - Terry Ray Beyer, 80, son of the late Margaret and Raymond Beyer was born in South Bend, Indiana. He passed away peacefully on May 11, 2020 while surrounded by his loving family in Sarasota, Florida. He is survived by his wife Kay Bell Beyer, son Scott Beyer (Amy), daughter Amy Beyer Decatur (Thomas), sister Becky Miller (Dan). He is preceded in death by his sister Judy Perez.
He was a graduate of Riley High School and Ball State Teachers College. Terry's talents were many. He was an accomplished photographer for Notre Dame University football and basketball teams while traveling with the teams for 19 years. Terry worked as a State Farm insurance agent for 36 years. He was a skilled sailor and commodore of Diamond Lake Yacht Club. Terry was inducted to Riley HS's Hall of Fame as a state swimming award winner and coach. As Riley's swim coach, his team placed 2nd at state competition.
Terry was a humble, kind man who loved his family and friends. He was an active member of JAYCEES, Kiwanis Club, and BSU Theta Chi Fraternity. Terry was a collector of nature, a talented woodcarver, carpenter, and an oil painter.
A memorial Service will be held on June 19, 2021 at Southlawn United Methodist Church with visitation at 10:00 AM- 12:00 PM and service immediately following.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the love and support from their family and friends.

David Richards (1958)

Terry was an excellent swimmer on the 1956-58 Riley Swim Team with Odusch, Floden, Richards, Buchanan, Hale, etc. He was liked by all. Rest In Peace.
