Kathleen M. Porter
January 23, 1946 – August 15, 2019
Kathleen M. Porter, of South Bend, IN passed away at Memorial Hospital of South Bend on Thursday, August 15th, 2019, at the age of 73.
Kathleen was born on January 23, 1946 to Willard and Eileen (Cruchett) Kelsey at Memorial Hospital of South Bend. She graduated from Riley High School in 1964, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree of Education from Bethel College in 1968. She used that degree to become a Para-Professional for the South Bend Community School Corporation, where she retired in 2009.
Kathleen enjoyed painting, crocheting, swimming at the local YMCA. She also enjoyed cooking and spending as much time as possible with her family.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles E. Porter, they were married on September 9, 1967.
Kathleen is survived by and lovingly remembered by her children; Douglas (Pamela) Porter of Cincinnati, Ohio, Steven (Kimberly) Porter and John Porter, both of South Bend, and her grandchildren, whom she adored; Gregory Porter, Katie (Zachary) Stanage, Michael Porter, Mitchell Porter, Lukas Porter, and Zane Porter. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Cooper of Milton, Kentucky, and two brothers, Robert (Holly) Kelsey of Indianapolis,Indiana and Bill (Karen) Kelsey of Glendale, Arizona.
The visitation will be held at Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St., Mishawaka on Friday, August 23rd from 5:00 until 8:00pm.
Friends may arrive one hour prior to the funeral service that will also be held at Bubb’s on Saturday, August 24th at 10:00am, she will be laid to rest next to her loving husband at Southlawn Cemetery of South Bend.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Kathleen’s name to American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Dr. Suite 900, Arlington, VA 22202.
