Ted Teddy Eugene Weaver

Teddy E. Weaver

Teddy “Ted” Eugene Weaver

Teddy “Ted” E. Weaver, 68, of Granger and Lakeland, FL died unexpectedly of natural causes at 10:16am Monday November 29, 2010. Ted was born July 26, 1942, in Buchanan MI, to the late Doyle F. & Marie (Thierbach) Weaver. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Doyle L & Gerrill Duane Weaver. He is survived by his wife Carol and their three children, Michelle Shoupe (Tom) of Edwardsburg, Kimberly Weaver Hengert of South Bend, and Todd Weaver (Jennifer) of Cassopolis. He was blessed by 6 grandchildren; Emily, Hannah & McKenna Shoupe, Grace Hengert, and Sydney & Joshua Weaver. Also surviving him are his sisters, Kathleen Weaver of South Bend and Sherrill Churchia (John) of Niles, sisters-in-law Nancy Weaver of Granger/Lakeland FL & Delores Weaver of Buchanan, aunts, Dorothy & Ida Thierbach of Niles, and uncle, Clyde (Jerry) Weaver of Buchanan. Ted graduated from Riley High School in 1961. He served in the US Marine Corps for 4 years and the US Army reserves another 6 years. On September 9, 1967 at Christ the King Catholic Church in South Bend, Ted married Carol M. (Faker), and recently celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary. He was one of the “Founding Fathers” of the Harris Junior Baseball/Softball Association. He served as a Grand Knight for the Knights of Columbus, Council 4263, in his younger years and is a member of the 4th Degree. He retired from Indiana Bell/Ameritech after 30 years of service, was an area rep for the CWA before retirement, then went on to work several more years at CTDI (Communications Test Design Inc). He eventually fully retired to become a snow bird, preferring to spend his winters at their “mobile” at Twin Palms Retirement Park in Lakeland Florida with his late brother Doyle and many of his cousins. He kept busy in retirement, helping his children, sisters and neighbor & family-like member Linda Hudkins with house and yard projects. He enjoyed woodworking projects, reading, computer solitaire, meeting for Pioneer breakfasts and fishing with his buddies in his spare time. Ted had a “BIG” personality and was always on the go. He has been described as welcoming, friendly, engaging, and generous with his time & ability. He had a great laugh and loved to share it. He loved being with family, always quick to reach out to include extended family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and they will miss rocking with him in “Papa’s chair”. He was a sports fanatic (“Go Notre Dame!) and loved bowling, basketball, raquetball, football, fishing, golf, and softball. He coached and played on an adult co-ed softball team with his children, nieces, nephews & their friends well into his fifties. He played on many other sports teams throughout his adulthood. Friends may call from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8pm, Friday, at the Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 N. Main St. Mishawaka. Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church, on Saturday at 10am , where friends may call from 9am. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association or the Knights of Columbus and condolences can be e-mailed to bubbfuneral@yahoo.com.

Carol Corley (1961)

I'm so very sorry for your loss. I had no idea there was a Riley classmate in Lakeland, near where my husband and I have lived and worked for 30 years. My heart goes out to your family.
