Mishawaka-Karole Edith Lederer, 76, passed away peacefully at home early Friday, July 15.


Karole was born on February 20, 1935 in Chicago, IL to Kenneth E. and Edith (Swanson) Coughenour. She was preceded in death by her parents and a grandchild, Jacob Dillman.


On October 3, 1959 in South Bend as the former Karole Coughenour she married John F. Lederer. Surviving are her loving husband of 51 years, John; daughters, Kristine (Joseph) Lee of South Bend, Katherine (Scott) Dillman of French Lick, IN and Karolyn (David) Heighway of South Bend; a son, Carl (Anne) Lederer of Osceola; nine grandchildren, Joshua (Holly) Lederer, Zachary Lederer, Hunter Lederer, Meredith Lee, Madelyn Lee, Mason Lee, Alexandra Dillman, Scott Dillman Jr., Mackenzie Heighway, Madison Heighway, James (Erin) Heighway and Robert Heighway; two great grandchildren, Brody and Calihan Lederer and a brother, Richard (Sandy) Coughenour of St. Louis, MO.


Karole worked for Indiana Bell for 10 years before she decided to have children and raise a family. She then was a Bus Driver for 20 years for Penn Harris Madison School Corp. Karole was active in the Women's Society at All Saints United Methodist Church, Coalbush United Methodist and Osceola United Methodist Church where she was a Bell Ringer in the Choir.


Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 17 in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 18, with visitation one hour prior, in Osceola United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Vale officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka.

Dennis Wayne (1953)

My first date!  Went on hayride. Didn't have courage to kiss her til haywagon turned around to head back

to barn!
