SOUTH BEND, IN - Helen Jean Lehman, 96 years old, passed away on September 2, 2018 in her longtime home of 60 years, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 18, 1921 in South Bend, Indiana to the late Henry and Esther (Mark) Jerue. Helen was a South Bend native and graduated from Riley High School in 1940. On November 8, 1941, she married Carl L. Lehman. Prior to his passing in 2000, Helen and Carl celebrated 58 years of marriage. Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Jerue, her son, John Lehman Sr., granddaughter, Tara (Lehman) Miller, and life long friend, William Spillman.

Surviving Helen are her children, Linda Wilson (Michael) of Oceanside, California, Trudy Ward (Robin) of South Bend, Timothy Lehman (Susan) of Edwardsburg, Michigan, and her daughter-in-law, Sandra Lehman of Edwardsburg, Michigan, her 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, Helen cherished the friendships she shared with Veronica Pawlak, her long time neighbor of 60 years and fellow Notre Dame fan. Helen was a lifelong member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in South Bend, Indiana. Her employment at South Bend Floral Company sparked her passion for flowers and gardening. Helen impacted many people's lives, and loved talking with her family, friends and caregivers.

Visitation will be on Friday, September 7, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in River Park where Funeral Services will begin after visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steven D. Latzke officiating the services. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bubb Funeral Chapel.
