MISHAWAKA - Doris M. Brothers, 88, of Normandy Drive, Mishawaka, passed away in the Sanctuary at Holy Cross, South Bend, at 5:39 a.m. on Friday, January 28th. She was born in Gaston, Indiana, to Cletis and Cledith (Allred) Stokes, who both preceded her in death.

On May 9th, 1948, as Doris Stokes, she married James W. Brothers. He survives with two children, Jerry Brothers of San Diego, California, and Jennifer (Ron) Denniston of Mishawaka. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Angela Denniston, Shawn Denniston, Greg Brothers and Joel (Danielle) Brothers. She is also survived by a brother, Paul Stokes of Jacksonville, Florida.

Preceding her in death along with her parents were a brother, Charles "Bud" Stokes, and a daughter-in-law, Karen Brothers.

Doris was a graduate of Riley High School, class of 1940, and was self-employed as a tailor and seamstress. She also taught adult education classes in the South Bend School System in Tailoring. In her younger days, she performed in a band, traveling the Midwest.

Due to the snow storm, funeral services for Doris will be held at 1:00 p.m. today, February 3rd, in Bubb Funeral Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, Mishawaka.
