Nancy K. (Buck) Detert
July 31, 1947 ~ February 14, 2022 (age 74)
Nancy K Detert, 74, passed away on Monday, February 14, 2022, in her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 31, 1947, in South Bend IN, to the late Jack and Louise (Davis) Buck. On May 11, 1980, she married Gary Lee Detert who preceded her in death on October 12, 2021.
Nancy graduated from Riley High School class of 1965. She was a member of St. Monica Church in Mishawaka. On May 11th, 1980, she married the love of her life, Gary. She spent many years raising their 5 children. Also, many late nights staying up and helping with homework. Countless band concerts and sporting events.
She lived most of her years in the South Bend area, although after 15 years of marriage she and Gary decided to move to Las Vegas. Nancy’s work life led her to the medical field. She was the office manager for University Health Serviced at Saint Liam Hall, Notre Dame. While in Las Vegas she worked for Desert Springs Hospital as an accounts manager. When she and Gary moved back to South Bend she work at Pulmonary & Critical Care Associates, where she retired.
Nancy loved Notre Dame Women’s Basketball. She loved her music. Was a faithful viewer of American Idol and The Voice, LOL. God forbid you ever called during an episode. She loved all of her children and grand/great children unconditionally. Always supportive and ALWAYS there to listen with no judgment. Joined Indiana Red Hat Angels in 2019, where a Red Hat sisterhood was formed. These ladies are only about having fun. Her furry friend Max was her walking buddy. Battell Park was their home away from home.
Surviving are her children, Rhonda (Will) Mellen and Jeff (Danielle) Sellers , Frankie (Robbie) Detert, Marsha (Scott) Matthews and Kimberly (Tommy) Detert-Osmer; grandchildren, Amy (Chris) Lewis, Landon Johns, Sara (Tommy) Sellers and Alycia (Camaron) Villecco, Aaron (Courtney) Matthews, Kyle Osmer and Kaden Osmer; great-grandchildren, Makenzie and
Bradley Lewis and Izabelle Johns, Jadelyn and Sierra Winkle, Arya and Connor Villecco, , Kane, Kole and Kinsley Matthews; brother, Jack (Patsy) Buck; and best friend, Sue Peters.
Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Monday, February 21st in Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka with a rosary to be recited at 6:30 pm. Funeral Services will be 12 pm on Tuesday, February 22nd in the funeral home with Reverend Jacob Meyer officiating. Nancy will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery.
