Donald D. Swanson
Donald D. Swanson Sept. 13, 1946 - Dec. 16, 2014 GRANGER - Donald D. Swanson, 68, passed away peacefully at home, in the company of his loving family, on Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Donald was born in Red Oak, IA, on September 13, 1946, to the late Carl Raynor Swanson and Irene (Hendrickson) Wright. Donald attended Penn High School and graduated from Riley High School.
On June 11, 1966, he married Norma Stogsdill. Donald and Norma were happily married for 48 years. In addition to his wife, Donald is survived by his son, Scott (Anna) Swanson of Niles, MI; four brothers, Robert (Karen) of South Bend, Richard (Karole) of Niles, MI, Jerry of San Diego, CA, and Michael (Elanor) Swanson of South Bend; a sister, Susan Rigby of South Bend; and three grandsons, whom he adored, Jonathan, Joseph and Jacob Swanson of Niles, MI.
In addition to sharing life with Norma, Donald's three grandsons were the loves of his life. He enjoyed going to their Football, Basketball and Baseball games and spending quality time with them doing "guy stuff". He was a proud Army veteran and taught his family the importance of patriotism, selfless service, duty and honor.
Services will be held Saturday, December 20th, at Beacon Baptist Church, 2522 South 13th, Niles, MI 49120, where Donald was a member. Visitation will be from 10AM-12PM, with a memorial service at 12PM. Pastor Michael Harris will be officiating.
