SOUTH BEND - Carole Jean Kleinert, age 63, passed away after a brief illness at Kaiser Foundation Center, Honolulu, Hawaii on September 19, 2011. Born March 6, 1948 in South Bend, Indiana to Ruth and Borge Lundh, she attended Riley High School and graduated from Memorial Hospital Nursing School in South Bend, Indiana with a degree in nursing and earned her M.S. from the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Carole married her lifelong partner, Jerry Kleinert, in 1969 and was the loving mother to three children, Eric (Mel) Kleinert of Indianapolis, Indiana, Matt (Stacy) Kleinert of Indianapolis, Indiana and Amy Kleinert of Mishawaka, Indiana. She was the grandmother of Gabrielle, Madeline and Avery. Carole was employed as a RN for 34 years at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Indiana.

She moved to Kailua-Kona, Hawaii in 2002 with her husband, Jerry, where she continued her nursing career at the Chemotherapy / Infusion Center at Kona Community Hospital. She was also a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Carole is survived by her sisters, Margot Hemming of Indianapolis, Indiana and Monica Feltes of South Bend, Indiana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Roger Lundh, and sister Nancy Hraber.

A mass and dispersing of ashes will take place in October at Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Condolences may be sent to Jerry Kleinert, 75-6126 Paulehia Street, Kailua-Kona, HI 96740.
