Thomas M. Uzelac

SOUTH BEND - Thomas "Tom" M. Uzelac, beloved father and friend, passed away unexpectedly in Memorial Hospital on April 22, 2011. Tom was born on November 22, 1949, in South Bend, to Mike and Helen (Miskin) Uzelac. They both preceded him in death.

He graduated from Riley High School in 1968 where he was a three-sport letterman. Tom went on to play football and baseball at Hillsdale College.

He was also a longtime member of the UAW and the International Plumbers and Pipe Fitters Unions. Aside from his accomplishments, Tom will be remembered most for his love for his friends and family, his unwavering desire to help others, and his loving relationship with his daughter, Leanne.

He is survived by his daughter, Leanne Uzelac of South Bend; brothers, Rich Uzelac and wife, Peggy, and Ted Uzelac and wife, Bonnie, both of Dallas, Texas; and four nephews, Michael, Hunter, Colton and Dillon. 

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, April 30, 2011, at noon in Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, April 29th, in the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM. Friends may also call one hour prior to services Saturday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Sts. Peter & Paul Serbian Orthodox Church.
