James C. Van De Voorde

James C. Van De Voorde, 64, of South Bend, passed away on Wednesday August 27, 2014, in Memorial Hospital Hospital, South Bend. He was born on October 17, 1949, in Mishawaka, to the late Clement and Helen E. (Stuban) Van De Voorde and was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from Riley High School in 1968. On January 12, 1974, he married Bonnie Jones, who survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Heather (McCaffery) Carlisle of South Bend; and by three grandchildren, Connor and Grace Carlisle and Zachary Rabey. Mr. Van De Voorde worked as a store manager at Brentwood Service Star Hardware and a bartender at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #58, South Bend. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Mishawaka Lodge #1262, Sons of the American Legion Post #357, FOP Associate member, Studebaker Drivers Clubs and the Pioneer Automobile Association. James loved Studebakers, older cars and building things. He was an avid Notre Dame, Chicago Bears and Cubs fan. A memorial visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Sunday August 31, 2014, in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend. Memorial conbtributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
