Janice K. (Kimes) Trethewey

SOUTH BEND - Janice Karen Trethewey, age 77, of South Bend, passed away at 9:00 pm Friday, January 11, 2013, at Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center. Janice was born February 11, 1935, in Lakewood, Ohio, to the late William F. and Reva L. (Bunce) Kimes.
On April 15, 1955, she married William Trethewey at the River Park Church of Christ in South Bend. They celebrated 57 years of marriage. William survives along with their children, Timothy Allen Trethewey of South Bend, Thomas Andrew (Diane) Trethewey of Osceola and Tamara Anne (James) Gibb of Mishawaka, Indiana. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Ashley Marie Trethewey, Rachael Lyne Sotala, Karissa Catherine Sotala, Jonathan Michael Gibb, Jenna Rebekah Trethewey, Emily Michelle Gibb, Andrew William Trethewey, Suzanne Michaela Gibb, Grace Anne Trethewey and Denae Lee Jones; as well as one great-grandson, Carter Blake Andersen.
Janice was preceded in death by her brother, Neil F. Kimes in 1994.
Friends may call from 5-7 pm Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Osceola, where a memorial service will be held following calling at 7 pm. Interment will take place at a later date at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.
Janice was a graduate of Riley High School, class of 1952.
She was employed by the South Bend Tribune, and at the Mishawaka Meijer Store as a cashier until illness forced her retirement. In her spare time, she loved to travel, sing at church, collect things, crochet and shop, and watch NASCAR. In her memory, donations may be made to the Northway Church of Christ in South Bend where she was a longtime member.
