Marlene J. (Muckenfuss) Stout

July 5, 1932 ~ April 14, 2024

Marlene J. Stout, 91 years old, passed away at 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024 at Hospice House, Mishawaka, IN.  Mrs. Stout was born on July 5, 1932 in Mishawaka to the late George and Gertrude (Sauer) Muckenfuss.  She has remained a lifelong area resident.  On October 25, 1952 in South Bend, Marlene and Donald C. Stout were united in marriage.  Donald preceded her in death on August 13, 2009 after 56 years of marriage. 

Marlene became a child of God through baptism and was confirmed in faith at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in South Bend.  She was an active member of the church during her lifetime. She walked humbly with God and revered His word.  Marlene leaves behind a rich memory of a life of honesty, kindness, and trust in her Lord and Savior.  Marlene worked at Holy Cross Health System for 19 years, retiring in 1995.

Marlene is survived by her three children, David W. (Valerie) Stout of Chicago, IL, Carol S. Stout of Chicago, IL, and Robert J. Stout, Sr. of Lakeville; and six grandchildren, Paul (Destiny) Stout, Peter Stout, Lealah (Michael) Stewart, Emily Stout, Robert (Jenn) Stout, and Trenton (Morgan) Stout. Marlene is also survived by ten great grandchildren; and her brother, Paul Muckenfuss of Palm Desert, CA.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 S. 29th Street, South Bend.  Pastor Greg Fiechtner will officiate.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola.  Friends may visit with the family on Monday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend.  Friends may also visit with the family beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Marlene J. Stout may be donated to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 S. 29th Street, South Bend, IN  46615.  Online condolences may be offered to the Stout family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
