ELKHART- Joyce A. (Philley) Steltner, 79, of Elkhart, Indiana, died at 1:57 p.m. Saturday (May 14, 2011) at East Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, She was born May 5, 1932 in South Bend to David & Grace (Mooker) Philley.
On October 1, 1966 in South Bend she married Edmund E. Steltner. He survives along with two daughters, Mary (Devin) Himebaugh of Elkhart and Christina (Tom) Rector of Phoenix, AZ. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Jarrett Himebaugh, Gabrielle & Drew Rector. Preceding in death was a brother, David Philley.
Joyce graduated in 1950 from Riley High School in South Bend. She also attended IUSB. She was a member of the National Secretaries Association and TOPS Indiana 0966 group. She and Edmund are both members of Trinity Lutheran Church. Joyce worked for IBM as a secretary and took early retirement to raise her family. She also worked for WTRC selling public service announcements and was known as "Joyce the Voice".
A Celebration of Life Service for Joyce will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday (May 17, 2011) at Trinity Lutheran Church, 400 West Blvd. S., Elkhart, IN. Pastor Mel Meyer will preside. Cremation has taken place. Burial will be private at a later date in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park in Granger.
