February 1, 1928 ~ October 12, 2023 (age 95)

Edward M. Jordanich, 95, died peacefully Thursday afternoon, October 12th.  “Eddie” to his family and old friends, “Ed” to his colleagues and newer friends, and “Papa” to his granddaughters, he was born in South Bend to the late Edward and Magdalena (Vukovich) Jordanich.  On November 23, 1961, he married the former Alma Vukovits at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart.  She died on June 12, 1981.  He was also preceded in death by his sister and best friend, Anne M. Jordanich, who died on March 12, 2014.

Edward M. is survived by his son, Edward J. Jordanich (Julia) of South Bend, and his daughter, Ann M. Jordanich, of Chicago, Illinois.  Also surviving him are his granddaughters Lauren, Mia and Natalie Jordanich, who gave him much joy and happiness over the last years of his life.

Eddie is also survived by his cousins whom he treasured:  Katherine (Fred, deceased) Kagel, Hubert (Judy) Kuzmich, Nancy (Gus) Hillenbrand, and Monsignor John Kuzmich.  He is also predeceased and survived by many Croatian relatives and friends both here and in Austria that he loved to visit and host throughout his life.

Ed lived in South Bend his entire life.  He graduated from Our Lady of Hungary School, Riley High School and the University of Notre Dame.  He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army.  He worked his entire career at Bendix/Allied Signal/Honeywell and retired in 1991.  He was a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Hungary Church.

Ed’s family would like to thank Sue, Kim, Ciera, and the staffs at St. Paul’s, Holy Cross Village, and the Center for Hospice Care; all of whom cared for him with compassion and kindness during the last years of his life.

Visitation will take place from 4-8pm, Friday, October 20, 2023, at the Zahoran Funeral Home, 1826 Kemble Avenue.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00am Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church, 829 West Calvert Street in South Bend.  Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
