Phyllis J. Ramsbey Oct. 9, 1926 - March 28, 2014 NORTH LIBERTY - Phyllis J. Ramsbey, 87, of North Liberty, passed away on Friday, March 28th in her residence after a brief illness. Phyllis was born on October 9, 1926, in South Bend, to Loren and Esther (Traeger) Pennell.

On September 7, 1947, in South Bend, the former Phyllis J. Pennell married Richard M. Ramsbey, who preceded her in death on March 25, 2000. Mrs. Ramsbey retired from Dr. William Blank, DPM, where she worked as a podiatry assistant for over 20 years.

Phyllis is survived by two daughters, Linda A. (John) Kopacz and Pamela K. (Howard) Dosmann, both of North Liberty; one son, Brian D. Ramsbey of Walkerton; two sisters, Ruth Moon of South Bend and Roberta Moorhead of Rhode Island; and one brother, Richard Pennell of Texas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Tara M. (Gary) Brown, Stephanie N. (Wesley) Walls, Sarina A. Kopacz, Kevin R. (Marianne) Dosmann, Michael J. (Vicki) Dosmann, Alexander D. Ramsbey and Christopher J. Ramsbey; and six great-grandchildren: Zachary L. and Dakota M. Brown, Madison L., Katelin N., and Lia L. Dosmann, and Kara N. Walls.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; one son, Larry R. Ramsbey; three sisters, Helen Butterworth, Mildred Kline, and Marian Hollister; and one great-grandchild, Lizbeth Dosmann.

Phyllis's hobbies included cooking, baking, making all kinds of cakes, knitting, flowers, gardening, going to Florida, and being with her family. She was a member of Sumption Prairie United Methodist Church, Star Neighborhood Home Makers, and Greene Township Homemakers Club.

Visitation hours will be Thursday, April 3rd, from 4:00 PM 8:00 PM at Hanley and Sons Funeral Home "Southwest Chapel," located at 23421 State Road 23 / West Ireland Road, South Bend. Services will be Friday, April 4th, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with Pastor Tom Couch officiating. Burial is to follow at Sumption Prairie Cemetery. The family requests that all memorial contributions be made to the Emily Hollister Scholarship Fund at any First Source Bank location.
