Gregory B. McCaughan

Gregory B. McCaughan Was born in South Bend, Indiana to Fred and Gladys McCaughan on November 14, 1924. He died peacefully on December 11, 2009 at home in San Francisco, California, surrounded by family. Greg served in Europe during WWII.

He graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1949 and worked for the Bechtel Corporation on dam projects, including the Guri Dam. He loved golf, especially at Lincoln Park, and always enjoyed a good game of cribbage and often won.

Greg is survived by his devoted and beloved wife, Celina, as well as his three children and their families: Douglas (and Joanne McCaughan), Celia (and Mike McArdle), Mary (and Mitch Fontaine), including nine grandchildren: Annie and Calvin McCaughan; Troy and Theresa McArdle; Danielle, Monica and Jenna Fontaine, and Celimari and Mariceli Tapia (and their father Jorge). Greg will be greatly missed by all of his extended family and friends.

Greg was pre-deceased by first wife Marjorie (Keefe, 1982) and two daughters, Kathleen (1962), and Jamilet (Tapia, 2009).

Friends are invited to attend a luncheon in Greg's memory on January 10, 2010 at 1:00 - 3:00 p.m., at the United Irish Cultural Center in San Francisco. As thanks to his most outstanding cardiologist, Dr. Grossman, donations may be made to UCSF Foundation, Division of Cardiology, put "Dr. William Grossman" in memo line and send C/O Anne Domergue, 220 Montgomery St., 5th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94104.
