NEW CARLISLE - James C. Schrader is with his Lord. Jim passed away on Friday, September 6, 2013 at 2:00 a.m. at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. His age was 89. James Clifford Schrader was born on February 16, 1924 in Mishawaka to Clifford A. and Mamie O. (Bartholomew) Schrader.

Jim is survived by his wife, Evelyn (Fox) Schrader of New Carlisle; daughter, Charlotte (Bert) Rossi of New Castle, PA; sons, Gregory A. Schrader and Jeffrey L. Schrader, both of New Carlisle; grandchildren, Brandon Barletta of New Castle, PA, Andrea Ashby of New Castle, PA and Stacie Freeman of LaPorte, IN; and great grandchildren, Landon Corbett of LaPorte, Haiden Freeman of LaPorte, Maleiah Ashby of New Castle, and Kolsen Ashby of New Castle. Jim is also survived by two sisters, Evalyn Erickson of Witchita Falls, TX and Susan Schrader of Dallas, TX.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marg Wishart; and two brothers, Robert and Alan Schrader.

Jim and Evelyn married on August 20, 1947 and celebrated 65 years together.

He graduated from Riley High School and then joined the United States Navy in 1942. Jim served 6 years and was discharged on December 15, 1948.

He owned and operated S & H Carbonic Co. in Mishawaka and retired at the age 80. Jim loved bowling, hunting, fishing, camping and traveling the United States. He enjoyed doing leather work, as well as, making stained glass lamp shades and windows. Jim enjoyed life to the fullest and was well liked by everyone he met in life. He will be truly missed by family, friends, and his poodle, Abegail "Abbey". He loved his Lord and his life.

Cremation has taken place. Jim's ashes will be buried at the Porter Rae Cemetery in Potato Creek State Park, North Liberty. A memorial service will be held at a later date for his family. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend and Southlawn Cremation Services is assisting the family. Contributions in memory of James C.
