Pasquale "Pat" Stalteri

Pasquale Stalteri M.D. Dec. 2, 1923 - May 13, 2010 Dr Pat will be missed by all who knew him. He touched the lives of so many people during the 50 years he practiced medicine. He was a true family doctor delivering babies, treating multi-generational families and making house calls.

He was born in South Bend, Indiana and graduated from Riley High School in 1942. He attended Butler University prior to joining the Army where he served as a surgical technician with the Medical Detachment Combat Battalion. He graduated from Indiana University Medical School in 1951 and came out to San Francisco to do his residency at Saint Mary's hospital.

He there met and fell in love with a cute little nurse named Joan Bertoldi. They were married for 45 years and had three children; Marisa (Ron) Currier, Joni (Denis) Roake, Patrick John (Lisa) Stalteri.

He was a traditional family physician and surgeon and established his practice in South San Francisco. Pasquale was a proud Italian-American whose patients were mostly Italians living on the Peninsula and in San Francisco. Dr Pat was a member of the Olympic Club for over 50 years. He was also a long time member of the Italian Catholic Federation and the Salesian Boys Club. In 1995 he was awarded Man of the Year by the Italian American Citizens Club. He was on the staff of Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame for over 40 years where he was respected by many for his excellent diagnostic ability and his exceptional bedside manner.

Dr. Pat was devoted to his wife and family. He was a loving husband who cared for his wife during her long illness. He was an incredible grandfather who worshiped and was worshiped by his 8 grandchildren; Briana, Andrew, Braden, Gabriela, Ian, Dante, Hana and Alia. He could be seen at every sporting event or dance recital that his grandchildren participated in. Dr. Pat had an incredible sense of humor and an infectious personality that endeared him to all who knew him.

He will truly be missed but has found eternal rest with his wife Joan who preceded him in death by 11 years.

Friends and family are invited to a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Crosby -N. Gray funeral home, 2 Park Road, Burlingame. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 21, 2010 at Saint Catherine of Siena Church, 1310 Bayswater, Burlingame. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to the Salesian Sisters, c/o Sister Mary Rinaldi, 659 Belmont Avenue, North Haledon, NJ. 07508.
