Mark Joseph Gerschoffer

November 11, 1950 ~ October 4, 2022 (age 71)

 

Mark Joseph “Gersch” Gerschoffer died on Tuesday October 4th in his home.

He was born on November 11, 1950 to Joseph and Vivian Gerschoffer, Mark attended St. Matthew’s and graduated from Riley high school in South Bend, Indiana where he played football and basketball.

He went on to study at Davenport College in Grand Rapids, MI.   He was drafted and served honorably in Vietnam. When he came home he worked for White Farm for many years. Mark was an avid sports fan, especially football. He loved the Colts and Notre Dame but was happy watching any teams compete. Mark could remember stats which would impress even the most elite of sports buffs. He also loved going to the Indy 500 with friends, which he attended for  over 30 years. 

Mark was a longtime member of St. Anthony’s and bowled there for many years. He married the love of his life Kay Carter in 1982 who preceded him in death. Mark was also preceded in death by his father, Joseph Gerschoffer, step-father Les Kruger and his best friend and brother Neil Gerschoffer.  He also outlived his constant companion Bubba, as well as many life-long friends.

Mark is survived by his mother, Vivian Kruger, 3 brothers, Kerry, David, and Paul Gerschoffer , 3 children Dan (Amy) Carter, Melanie (Gary) Fischer, Westley (Aimee) Carter and 10 grandchildren Jacob Carter, Brooke Williams, Joseph Carter, Bailey (Zach) Zalas, Lexia Carter, Jimmy Fischer, Charles Carter, Meghan Carter, Chloe Carter, and Wyatt Carter. 

A Celebration of Life will be held from 2-6 on Friday November 25th at the Crumstown Conservation Club.  There will be a 21 gun salute ceremony at 3:45 followed by a dinner at 4:00.  Football and food, two of Mark’s favorite things.  Zahoran Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.  In lieu of flowers please donate to https://getwetforavet.org  Hospice & Palliative     Care  https://cfhcare.org/bereavement/   .   To leave an online condolence, visit our website http://www.zahoran.com or our facebook page Zahoran Funeral Home.

MR. GERSCHOFFER ALWAYS TREATED ME FAIRLY AND WAS A VERY GOOD FRIEND.

HE WAS GIVING AND DID GREAT THINGS FOR THE COMMUNITY
