Mary E. Jones
September 8, 1951 ~ November 10, 2022 (age 71)
Ms. Mary E. Jones, known to her family & friends as Midget , 71, residing in South Bend, IN, transitioned 7:50 am Thursday November 10,2022 in her home surrounding around her family. Mary was born September 8, 1951 in Collins, Miss. to the union of Eddie Sr, & Tenner Rae (Magee) Jones. Mary was the fifth child of 11. Mary professed Christ at an early age.
Mary relocated to South Bend, IN with her family in November 1966. Mary was a 1969 graduate of Riley High School. Mary continued her education at Indiana State University and later attended and graduated from Ivy Tech Community College, and Vogue Beauty College. Mary was a licensed Seamstress, Tailor, Cosmetologist, Certified Nursing Assistant, and Cook.
Mary began her employment at South Bend Toy she was employed there for many years. Later she landed employment with Logan Industrial Center.
Mary had several hobbies to include Fashion design, Creating seasonal wreaths, Crochet, Traveling, Cooking, spending time with her family, Mary loves to dress and enjoys talking on the phone. Most of all she loves being in the present of the Lord. Mary was a member of Christian Center.
Mary was united in holy matrimony to George Hugins II. Later Mary Married Douglas Roberts. However, Mary & George reunited as companions until his death.
In 1979 Mary and her family relocated to Las Vegas, NV and shortly after relocated to Hollywood CA. After the passing of her father Mary and her family returned to South Bend IN and has remained here until her passing.
Mary had three children, Daughters: Stephanie Neal & Taurus Hugins. Son: George Hugins III (deceased).
Mary is survived by her daughters Stephanie Neal of TN & Taurus Hugins of South Bend, IN. Granddaughters: Kiri & Jakira Neal of TN. One great-granddaughter: Ke’Ari Cason. Siblings: Maxine (John) Simmons of Chicago, IL. Akeem Saawu of Indianapolis, IN; Paulette Jones of Norfolk, VA; Joyce (Willie) Spann, Larry, Jimmy, & Hortense Jones all of South Bend, IN. Aunts: Woodie Magee and Geraldine Johnson. A Host of nieces, nephews & cousins.
Preceding her in death: Son: George Hugins III, Parents: Eddie Sr & Tenner Rae Jones, Siblings: Minnye Johnson, Wihelmenia McLaurin and Eddie Jones Jr,
Special friends: Corette Swanson, MaryAnn McGhee, Laverne Hudson and (Logan Industrial coworker Margaret). Mary was a very loving and caring mother to her children, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
The family of Mary wishes to thank DaVita, Heartland Hospice,Memorial Hospital and St Vincent Hospital Indianapolis, IN for care that was given.
Services for Ms. Jones will he held on Saturday November 26, 2022, 12 Noon in the chapel of Alford’s Mortuary, 1222 Napier Street, South Bend, IN 46601. Friends may visit with the family an hour prior. Arrangements have been entrusted with Alford’s Mortuary Inc.
