Joy Dokey of Naples, FL passed away suddenly on September 26, 2014. Joy was born on October 11, 1953 in South Bend, IN and graduated from Riley High School in 1972.

After many years in the food industry, she worked as a teaching assistant for David Lawrence's Excel Program. In 2003 she began working for Collier County in the Purchasing Department until present.

Joy was predeceased by her parents, Roxanne Wendt (2004) and George Wendt (2011).

She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Steve; her son, Jason Ames of Jacksonville, NC; her daughter, Ernestine Ames and grandson, Jason Ames, both of Naples, FL; her step-son, Matt Dokey and his son, Dylan Dokey of Vero Beach, FL; and Matt's daughter, Gabby Dokey of Rocklin, CA.

Joy was the oldest of her surviving siblings, Debra Anders of Plymouth, IN, Connie Wendt of Mishawaka, IN, James Wendt of South Bend, IN, and Charles Michael Wendt of Edwardsburg, MI. Joy also has many nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews.

Joy was known for her 'voice' and the way she spoke. Many could imitate her voice but there will never be one like hers. She was also known for her witty and sarcastic sense of humor which she passed on to her children.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate Joy's life on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Fuller Funeral Home, 1625 Pine Ridge Rd., Naples.

Inurnment will be private.

Donations in Joy's memory may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or to The Wounded Warrior Project.
