FORT WAYNE - Betty Lou Shoemaker, 71, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in Fort Wayne. Born in Peru, IN.
Betty worked as a teacher with Fort Wayne Community Schools for 34 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of Pine Hills Church and enjoyed studying genealogy. Betty will be remembered for her quiet manner, patience and trust.
Surviving are her husband of 50 years, David L. Shoemaker of Fort Wayne, IN; son, John D. (Hyejeong “Hannah”) Shoemaker of Rochester, NY; son, Stephen D. (Hristina) Shoemaker of Littleton, CO; daughter, Amy (Andrew) LeMaster of Sedalia, CO; daughter, Kara (Daniel) Hall of Castle Rock, CO; step-son, David C. (Debora) Shoemaker; step-daughter, LuAnn (Doug) Thomas of Columbus, IN; step-daughter, Sheri Lynn (Joseph Schmidt) Shoemaker of Mishawaka, IN; grandchildren, Joel Stephen LeMaster, Samuel Eric LeMaster, Joshua Andrew LeMaster, Timothy Aaron LeMaster, Elizabeth Bomin Shoemaker, Cai Stephen Shoemaker, Teo Stephen Shoemaker, Elias Daniel Hall, Abigail Haenah Shoemaker, and Ellie Amy Hall; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; and brother, Robert A. (Jill) Wilson of Bremen, IN. Betty was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Wilson, and mother, Ruth (Leffert) Wilson.
Memorial Service is 6:00 pm, Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Pine Hills Church, 4704 Carroll Road, Fort Wayne with visitation one hour prior. Memorials may be made to the Pine Hills Church or Focus on the Family in Colorado.
