Robert R. “Bob” Downham, Jr.

Robert R. “Bob” Downham Jr., 78, of South Bend, Indiana passed away at 8:44 p.m. at his residence. Bob was born on October 13, 1944, in Chicago, Illinois to Robert Sr., and Opal Farell (Cochran) Downham.
In 1989 Bob married Carol L. Thibault. Carol preceded him in death on October 10, 2017. Bob was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ruby Downham, a brother, Charles Downham and two great grandchildren, Cole, and Cora Webb.
Bob is survived by his children; Joe (Tracy Sarno) Downham, Tammy (Tim) Jesswein, Geannie (Jeremy) Arnett, Krista Webb, Lesleigh (Mike) Mannell, Wendy (Ed) Bombrys, Harry David (Nancy) Thibault and Caroline Blair, twenty grandchildren; Taylor Krizinski, Damian Downham, Ronnie Franks (Morgan Zimmerman), Heather Franks-Young (James), Tara Jesswein (Spoons), Stephanie (Seth) Wooten, Annastasia (Austin)Arnett, Joseph Arnett, Marchall Webb, Austin (Chrystina) Mannell, Brianne Mannell, Ryan Mannell, Kylie (Zack)Yike, Keith (Sophia) Bombrys, Eddie Bombrys, Spencer Thibault, Ric Thibault, Clay Thibault, Max (Aleenah) Duane and Dylan Blair along with fifteen great grandchildren.
Bob retired from AM General Corporation as an inspector, and he was a member of First Baptist Church of Mishawaka. Bob enjoyed fishing, bowling, puzzles gardening and he was a big Notre Dame Football fan.
Services for Bob will be on Saturday. September 2, at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Mishawaka, 724 North Main Street, Mishawaka. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the services. Pastor Pete Jones will officiate the services. VFW #360 will conduct military honors after the services. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, Indiana at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home – Bubb Chapel, 3910 North Main Street, is assisting the family. For medical reasons in the family the family requests no roses be sent.
