Kenneth Waldo Burden

Kenneth Waldo Burden, 82, of South Bend, IN passed away at 1:00 a.m. Tuesday September 14, 2010 in his home. He was born on October 15, 1927 in Argos, IN to Jesse E. and Alta G. (Watkins) Burden. On February 21, 1953 in the Ridgedale Presbyterian Church, South Bend, he married Evelyn Mae (Malley) Burden, who preceded him in death on June 7, 2006 after fifty-three years of marriage.

Mr. Burden is survived by daughter, Kathy Qulbain of Chicago, IL; son, Scott A. Burden of South Bend, IN; six grandchildren, Jalel Abu-Qulbain, Majeed Abu-Qulbain, Dena Byrd, Jesse McRae, Sherri McRae and Nathaniel Lewis; three great grandchildren, Tyler, Jeremiah and Mikael and brother, Jim Burden of Georgetown, TX. His daughter, Lori Lewis preceded him in death on August 11, 2007. A sister, Frances Snyder and brother, Robert Burden also preceded him in death.

Mr. Burden served honorably in the United States Army in the Korean War. He retired from ARA Services where he was an auditor, worked in accounting and sales. He was a member of the Calvert Rod & Gun Club, DAV and the American Legion.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010 in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend. The family will receive friends from 3:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
