She was born on July 11, 1929, in South Bend, IN, the only child of Walter W. and Rowena (Heminger) Crump. Barbara is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline (James) Lowe of Warsaw, IN, and Jill (Melvin Jr.) Slisz of Osceola, IN; son, Michael (Cathy) Burger of South Bend, IN; six grandchildren, Amanda Burger, Brandon (Stephanie) Burger, Christopher Lowe, Tom Lowe, Daniel Slisz and Randal Slisz; and one great-granddaughter, Aubree Burger. Mrs. Burger was a lifelong resident of South Bend's south side.

Everyone at the Miami Branch of the South Bend Public Library knew Barbara, and helped her keep a steady supply of the latest titles. Although cooking was not a hobby of hers, Barbara enjoyed dining out with family and friends.

Graveside services and burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 2, 2012, at Highland Cemetery, 2257 Portage Road, South Bend.
