SOUTH BEND - Marilyn Jane Cooper, 84, of South Bend, passed away Monday evening, April 9th in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She was born in South Bend March 28, 1928 to the late Eugene J. and Naida (Lewis) Hill. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Virginia Hampel and two brothers, Eugene L. and Jacob W. Hill. On April 26, 1952 in Indianapolis, IN she married T. Harold Cooper who died April 17, 1992.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Jayne C. Borzsei and husband Tom of Niles; three grandchildren, Blake (Andrea), Brett and Noah Borzsei, one great grandson, Remington and a great granddaughter due in July. She leaves behind her longtime Companion and Ball Room dance partner, Don Treadway of South Bend and Seminole, FL; and sister-in-law, Linda Rowe of Monroe, GA. Marilyn has five nieces and one nephew who survive along with their families, all whom she truly loved.

Marilyn and her husband Harold were owners of Cooper Insurance for over 20 years. She said that her best job was that of being a Mother, Grandma and Great- grandma.

She was a graduate of Riley High School class of 46.

Marilyn was a long time member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Sigma Alpha Sorority, the South Bend Elks # 235 and the Purple Ladies of Bethany Lutheran Church.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 14th in Bethany Lutheran Church, 5302 W. Sample St. Rev. Walter Stitt will officiate and burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Friday from 4-8 p.m. in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Rd. and one hour prior to the funeral Saturday in the church. A request of Marilyn's was that friends who come to the visitation and funeral wear something bright and cheerful in her memory. She was "so Marilyn"... always smiling and cheerful! She will be missed by so many. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or the Sigma Alpha Sorority in her memory. Friends and family may leave e-mail condolences at www.welsheimer.com.
