EDWARDSBURG - Mary E. (Parker) Lindley, 83 years old, of Pleasant Lake, Edwardsburg, passed to her rest on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, while a patient at Garden Villa Nursing Home in Bedford, IN, so she would be near her one daughter, Barbara Brock. Mary was born April 29, 1929, in South Bend, the daughter of Samuel M. and Lucile B. (Rawles) Parker.

She graduated from Riley High School and was a former president of the Alumni Association of Riley.

She was active in the Edwardsburg Community, having retired from the office at Dr. Robert Knox, DO, of Edwardsburg. She was a member of the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church for over 56 years, and former Church Choir Director. She was a soloist for many funerals. Other activities she liked doing included being a member of the Monday Evening Club, a literary group, a member of the Delta Theta Chi Sorority, and being active in the Cass County Council on Aging, having been a member of "The Kitchen Band." She was a former member of the Sweet Adelaines singing group. She was the second female ever to be a bus driver for the Edwardsburg School System.

Mary was married Sept. 12, 1948, in South Bend, to Robert B. Lindley, who passed April 18, 2000. Surviving are their children, Barbara (Dennis) Brock of Williams, IN, Catherine Lindley (David Ogden) of Grand Ledge, MI, Caroline Lindley of South Bend, James Lindley of Edwardsburg and Craig Lindley (Becky Nelson) of Libertyville, IL. There are nine grandchildren, Richard (Kadie) Pojeta, Daniel (Michelle) Pojeta, Christopher (Emily) McShane, Schuyler (Madeline) Hoffer, Adam (Autumn) Lindley, Michael (Carol) Lindley, Erika Lindley, Kathryn Soke and James (Tara) Soke. Mary has twelve great-grandchildren, Evan McShane, Molly McShane, Ella McShane, Dawson Lindley, Hayden Lindley, Darcy Soke, Dane Soke, Gage Soke, Parker Pojeta, Maxon Pojeta, Jessica Zimmer and Sean Gay.

There are family who have preceded her in death: her parents, her husband, Robert, and her siblings, Helen Austin, James Parker and Carman Parker.

Friends and family may gather at the Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, 26863 W. Main (US-12) in Edwardsburg on Tuesday from 6-8 PM. The Service of Remembrance will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2012, at the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church, 69941 Lake St., Edwardsburg, where calling will be for one hour before services. Officiating will be Rev. Scott Scheel, pastor. The family wishes to have memorial donations go to the Edwardsburg Presbyterian Church for the Church Choir.
