SOUTH BEND - Marian L. Hollister, 85, of South Bend, died Wednesday, November 21st in Hospice House of South Bend following a brief illness. Marian was born November 17, 1927 in South Bend to the late Esther (Trager) and Loren S. Pennell and was a lifetime area resident. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Emily Hollister, and two sisters, Helen Butterworth and Mildred Collins.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol L. Rothe (Craig) of Vallejo, CA and Debra C. Broshar (Steve) of Carmel, IN; one son, James L. Hollister (Louetta) of South Bend; four grandchildren, Eric Hollister of Fishers, IN, Carson Broshar of Carmel, Courtney West (Ian) of Collinsville, OK, and Callie Hartmann (Chad) of Houston, TX; a great-granddaughter, Emry Hartmann of Houston; three sisters, Ruth Moon of South Bend, Roberta Moorhead of Manchester, MA, and Phyllis Ramsbey of North Liberty, IN; and her brother, Richard Pennell of Kingwood, TX.

Marian loved her husband Jacque, whom she met when she was 16, and was a devoted housewife and mother to their three children. Marian and Jacque were married at Faith United Methodist Church on June 6, 1948 and were lifelong active members. They celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary before Jacque's passing on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012.

She was a graduate of Riley High School and retired from X-Ray Consultants after 25 years of devoted service.

The family loved to go camping and Jacque and Marian continued that tradition throughout their retirement, traveling the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Marian bravely battled congestive heart failure, never letting anyone know of any problems, aches or pains. She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 26th in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. with Rev. Larry Chrisman of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Committal services and entombment will follow in Riverview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 25th in the funeral home from 2 until 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Emily Hollister Scholarship Fund, c/o First Source Bank, 100 N.
