Dorothy A. (Wensits) Jordan

SOUTH BEND - Dorothy A. (Wensits) Jordan entered eternal life October 1, 2013 at home after an extended illness. Born December 25, 1928, the youngest child of John and Katherine Wensits, Dorothy was a lifelong South Bend resident. She graduated from Riley High School in 1946.
On September 15, 1951 she married Robert Jordan. They remained happily married until his death in October of 1997, raising six children.
In the early 1970's, when her children were all in school, Dorothy began working at the offices of Valley Lea Dairies, continuing to do so until her retirement in the early 1980's. Dorothy was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan. She faithfully cheered them every year, win or lose. There were three things she could never say no to; a cold beer, ice cream and her grandchildren.
Surviving family members include her six children; Karen (Eric) Boyd of LaGrange Park, IL, Dennis (Patti) and, Brian of South Bend, Greg (Mary Ann) of Clarendon Hills, IL, Doug of Bloomington, IL and Mari (Tom) Bishop of Granger; and her ten grandchildren, Alex, Andy and Evan Boyd, Stephanie, Scott, Bob and Elise Jordan, and Pat, Chris and Tim Bishop. Dorothy is also survived by her close friend and caregiver, Paula Godsey.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Friday, October 4, 2013 in St. Therese, Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 Ironwood Road, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday, October 3, 2013 in the Palmer Funeral Home - Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Little Flower Food Pantry or the Center for Hospice Care, 4220 Edison Lakes Pkwy, Suite 210, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
