SOUTH BEND - Walter Theodric "Wally" Hubbard III, 58, died Sept. 22, 2010, in the UCLA Medical Center from heart failure while awaiting a heart transplant. Walter was born Sept. 23, 1952, South Bend, IN, to Walter and Jeanetta Hubbard. He was the oldest of four children.

He graduated from Riley High in South Bend and attended art school in Chicago. He later received his Associate Degree in Art.

Walter retired from Pacific Bell as an engineer. Wally was an amazing artist, specializing in oil paintings with a "jazzy style." To him art was about expression and his passion for life. He had a love for music, painting, writing, and telling a good story. Gentle, yet strong, kind, loving and honest describes him. Most importantly, he was a doting dad and grandpa.

He is survived by his two children, Claudia and Markus Hubbard; bonus children, Erik and Kimberly Klassen; grandchild, Corry Polk; sister, Babette Montgomery; brothers, Rodney and Galen Hubbard, who referred to Wally as "his hero"; cousin, Ralph Stokes; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; loving family and friends, Susi Klassen, the Oglesbys and Ruders.

Services were held Saturday, Oct. 2nd, at 1 p.m. in Hillcrest Mortuary, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield, CA 93306.
