Roberta "Bertie" Rose (Terry) Riddle

October 12, 1937 ~ July 30, 2013         75 Years Old

Roberta R. "Bertie" Riddle, 75, residing in Mishawaka, passed away at 3:08 pm Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center with her loving husband and family by her side.   She was born October 12, 1937 in South Bend, a daughter of Robert & Rose (Acito) Terry, and was a lifelong resident of our community.

She graduated from James Whitcomb Riley High School, and it was during her high school years that she started with community theatre, and worked with James Lewis Cassidy and the Summer Theatre Productions.  She later acted with The Civic Theatre at the old Firehouse Theatre.  Her favorite plays were "Miss Reardon Drinks a Little", and "Everybody Loves Opal", of which she received raving reviews.  Later, Bertie raised money for the rehab of Battell Center in Mishawaka, and was Producer, Actor and Director of many shows there under the name of Bertie Riddle Productions.  She was also involved with IUSB Theatre, and the Presbyterian Players for many years.

On November 3, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Robert E. Riddle. She is survived by her loving husband Bob of 56 years.  Also surviving are her two sons and their wives, , Michael & Adrian Riddle of Westfield, IN; and John & Michele Riddle of Osceola, IN; four grandchildren, Michael, Joshua, Jacob and Kylene Riddle, her sister, Diane Botos of Edwardsburg, MI; and her two brothers, Jack Terry of Palatine, IL; and Dennis Terry of Colorado Springs, CO.

Services celebrating the life of Bertie Riddle will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 3, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend. Burial will take place at Southlawn Cemetery.  The family will receive from 2:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday.
