Paul Joseph White, 83, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 22, 2022. Paul was a lifelong resident of South Bend and graduated from the University of Notre Dame.

Paul married the love of his life, Catherine “Cathy” (Napierala) White of Wanatah, IN on May 12, 1962. They were married for 57 years until the time of Cathy’s passing in August 2019. Paul is survived by his children: Marie (Mike) Gosmeyer, Carolyn White, Barb (Steve) Klump, Joe (Karen) White, and Tricia White-Martinez as well as 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren (with the 4th arriving soon). He is also survived by his sister, Mary Jane (White) Hahl. Paul was preceded in death by his brothers: Richard (Dick), James (Jim), Donald (Don), and Robert (Bob)

Paul was dedicated to his faith, family, work, and community. Paul’s lifelong career began in his elementary school years at the family’s business, Edward J. White, Inc. He eventually took over the business from his father and has since passed it on to his son. Paul was a devout Catholic and unwavering parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. He was passionate about antique cars and involvement in the community. He loved remodeling old cars with his Model A truck among his most cherished possessions. Paul was a driven member of the Hoosier “A” Ford Club, Pioneer Auto Association, and Studebaker Driver Club.

His substantial contributions to the community included volunteering with Camp Millhouse and Studebaker National Museum. He was also active with the South Bend Lion’s Club and Rotary Club of South Bend. Paul was a loyal member of PHCC and former president of the PHCC of St. Joseph Valley. Paul powerfully impacted his community and the lives of those around him.

Paul’s family sends deepest gratitude to the 6th floor oncology nursing staff at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for their support and care.

Visitation for Paul will be on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, from 3:00 to 6:00pm in Palmer Funeral Home - Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St., South Bend and 9:30 to 10:30 am on Thursday, January 27, 2022 in St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Rd., South Bend. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at 10:30 am in St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Rd., South Bend.  Paul will be inurned with his wife, Catherine at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, next to Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial contributions may be made to Camp Millhouse.
