Sharon Ann Elzer (McGee)

Sharon Ann (Elzer) Laskowski McGee

June 27, 1940 ~ January 29, 2022 (age 81)

Sharon Ann (Elzer/Laskowski) McGee, 81 years old, passed away at 11:11p.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka.  Sharon was born on June 27, 1940 in Rockford, IL to the late Francis and Laverne (Stewart) Elzer.  She has lived in South Bend and Mishawaka most of her adult life.  She graduated from Riley High School then went to work with her parents at L.B. Price Mercantile in South Bend; later retiring from J.C. Penney’s in the payroll department after 30+ years of employment (where everyone loved her).

Sharon is survived by her husband, Roy McGee of South Bend; three daughters, Karen of South Bend, Carol Laskowski of Mishawaka, and Christine Laskowski of South Bend; three grandchildren, Monica Laskowski, Angel Laskowski and Michael Kosar; and five great grandchildren, Alissa McQueary, Airiana Smith, Alexis Laskowski, Timothy Smith Jr., and Ava Laskowski.  Along with her parents, Sharon was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Russell (Dub) Lorentz.

Sharon lived a fulfilled life; she was not only an amazing mother but our best friend as well.  Some of her greatest joys in life were when she traveled with her family.  She loved to visit Las Vegas (known as one of her “happy places”) sight-seeing with her daughters.  Some of her best moments were in Florida visiting family, enjoying the sunshine, beach, ocean and watching the pelicans. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren creating memories.  She was excited and anxiously awaiting the birth of her sixth great grandchild (Greyson).  Later in life, she took an interest in football as she watched her favorite team “Kansas City Chiefs” and excitedly yelling “touchdown” when they scored.   Hometown moments were taking road trips with her husband, daughter, and grandchildren to St. Patrick’s Park to see the eagles & their nest and to Michigan City Pier along with camping and fishing in her earlier years.  She found it relaxing to sit by the campfire, listen and watch for the moonflowers to pop open.  Sharon loved a well-kept yard and the beauty in nature.

Sharon treasured her dogs (Mac & Lady) and the family pets (Bear, Gracie, Moose, Hershey, Smokie, Mittens, Timber, Tinker, Boo and Winter) to which all were known as her babies.  She will now join and rest with her family of pets that she loved and cherished that have since past (Baby, Duke, Luke, Harley, Coco, Snowball, Snowy, Barney Betty, Boots, Squirt, Whiskers, Lacie, etc.) and watch over all of us.

Sharon’s presence will be missed forever!  She had pure heart with a very kind and gentle soul and spirit. Sharon’s love was unconditional.  It was important for her to always do the right thing and to help others.   She holds a very special place in our hearts and her presence will be with us forever.  We will always cherish the life we had with our mom and those special moments that will never be forgotten.  She will now be our bright & shining star in the sky watching over us until we see each other at the gates of heaven.

Private service will be held.  Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, South Bend is assisting the family.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Sharon McGee may be donated to Palmer Funeral Home, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN  46614.  Online condolences may be offered to Sharon’s family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com.
