Rosemary Eileen (Lybarger) Cox

November 20, 1939 – September 3, 2022

Rosemary E. Cox, 82, residing in South Bend, passed away early Saturday morning, Sept. 3, 2022 at Southfield Village, South Bend.  She was born November 20, 1939 in South Bend, a daughter of the late Ralph & Viola Lybarger, and has remained a lifelong resident of South Bend, except for fifteen years she lived in Marion, IN.

On August 2, 1958 in South Bend, Rosemary was united in marriage to Walter Cox. He preceded her in death in 2014.

Rosemary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Robin Lynn & Ron Mitschelen of South Bend; her son and daughter-in-law, Rick Allen & Alena Cox of Stuart, FL, along with three grandchildren, Adam M. (Sarah) Mitschelen, Derick (Mary) Mitschelen, and Wade P. (Brianna) Cox, and four great-grandchildren, Olivia, Charlotte, Henry, and Logan Mitschelen. Rosemary is also survived by her brothers, George (Sharon) Lybarger, and Ralph Lybarger, both of South Bend, and her sister, Vera Castro of Niles, MI.  She was preceded in death by her brother Vaughn Lybarger, and sister Jean Smith.

Rosemary worked in retail sales for over 30 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandchildren.  She loved to craft and could make a project out of virtually anything.  She loved to make things sparkle.  She battled Parkinson’s with a determined and strong spirit, never letting it get the best of her.  She was always a happy person, even in the worst of days.

Thanks to Southfield Village and Southern Care Hospice for all of their care given to Rosemary. There are not enough words to express the gratitude the family has for the Southfield family of workers who loved and cared for Rosemary through her last years of life.  They filled her days with loving care, joy and laughter.  She truly loved her life at Southfield. You all have truly been a blessing to the family.

Services for Rosemary will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at the Palmer Funeral Home within the Palmer Community Complex, 601 North Michigan St., Lakeville, IN.  The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday.  Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend.
