SOUTH BEND - Beatrice Poole, 90, was received into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus Christ on October 5th, 2013. She was born Beatrice Mardelle Boberg on March 11, 1923, in South Bend, Indiana, to Julius Axel Boberg and Anna Anderson, both immigrants from Sweden. She was the last living and youngest of six children. Bea was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Conley Vance Poole, and son, David Conley Poole, both in 1982.

She is survived by two sons, Gregory (Elizabeth) of Fremont, Indiana, and Clearwater Beach, Florida, and Brian (Diane) of Seminole, Florida; and one daughter, Cheryl (Mark) Hackbarth of Stillwater, Minnesota. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Julie (Andy) Kern of South Bend, Jennifer Poole of South Bend, Conley V. II (Kelly) Poole of Carmel, Indiana, Elise (Robert) Hollister of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Nathan (Alecia) Poole of Seminole, Florida, Shauna (Chris) Bromby of Ocoee, Florida, Amy (Anthony) Sanders of Lake Elmo, Minnesota, and Kelly (Justin) Miller of Hudson, Wisconsin. Bea also had thirteen great-grandchildren, and another soon to arrive.

She spent most of her life in South Bend where she graduated from Riley High School in 1941.

Bea was a lifelong member of Grace United Methodist Church where she served as the church secretary during the years of WW II. Following her husband Conley's return from the war, they formed the Beacon ('Bea-Con') Beverage Company. But Bea's love was her family and Grace Church. She was active in the United Methodist Women, women's circles, and prayer groups. Bea, in unity with her husband Conley, was dedicated to raising her family to know and love God. She was also active in the Kiwanis Auxiliary, and a former member of the Rose Croix Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Upon Conley's retirement she spent ten years as a full-time resident of Diamond Lake in Cassopolis, Michigan, and wintered in Naples, Florida, where she was an active member of The Moorings Presbyterian Church. In 2005, she became a member of the Freedom Square community in Seminole where she resided until her death. She was a member of the Oakhurst United Methodist Church. Bea was a kind, gentle, sensitive, and loving lady who lived her life as a devoted and dedicated disciple of Christ. She witnessed to her love and devotion to God and Jesus Christ through her unending acts of kindness, and her quietly written words of spirit-filled support and encouragement to her family, friends, and numerous acquaintances. She shared her faith through her beautifully written poems and prayers. God's special gift to her was to be HIS humble servant with a compassionate listening ear, enriched with a life of prayer that touched the lives of all who knew and loved her.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 am on October 26th at Grace United Methodist Church, located at 3012 S. Twyckenham Dr., South Bend, IN 46614. Condolences may be offered at www.mossfeasterlargo.com.
