William Edward Metsker

William E. Metsker was born April 3, 1923 in Bringhurst, Indiana and passed away on April 9, 2015 at the age of 92. Bill was an inspiration throughout his life as he embodied the spirit of love and commitment. He valued education and obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University. His schooling was completed after serving two years in the army during World War II. In 1962 Bill received an MBA from Michigan State University. He was employed as an engineer and manager at Bendix Corporation in South Bend, Indiana and Avco in Tulsa, and was later self-employed.

Bill was a devoted family man, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. In 1947, he married Dorothy Baughman who passed away in 1991. In 1999 Bill married Kathryn Harrison who now survives him. He is also survived by his 4 children, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

After moving to Tulsa in 1964, Bill became an avid tennis player and he regularly competed and placed in competitions, well into his 80's. Bill was an original member of Asbury United Methodist Church and active as a leader in Sunday school classes. He was also the founder of the Asbury Saints of Swing Band. Bill touched so many lives. He was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by all who knew him. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Aberdeen Heights and Clare house Hospice for the dedicated care and compassion shown to Bill during the last months of his life.
