Conley V. Poole

Conley V. Poole, 59, 1953 Somersworth, died at 9:57 p.m. Friday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, after an unexpected illness. He was the founder and owner of the former Beacon Beverage Co. When he sold it to ARA Services in 1961, he became regional manager. He retired in 1974 after 13 years service.

Born June 6, 1923, in South Bend, he lived here until 1973 when he moved to Diamond Lake, Cassopolis. He returned to South Bend this year but also maintained a residence in Naples, Fla. On Oct. 18, 1943, in South Bend, he married Beatrice Boberg, who survives, along with a daughter, Mrs. Cheryl Hackbarth of Waukesha, Wis.; two sons, Bryan of Largo,- Fla. and Gregory V. of Charlotte, Mich; and seven grand-children. 

He was a veteran of World War II, a member of Disabled American Veterans, South Bend Chapter of the Order of DeMolay, St. Joseph Lodge 45 F&A.M., Order of Scottish Rite, Orak Temple in Hammond, South Bend Shrine Club and former member of Kiwanis International in South Bend; past director of Diamond Lake Yacht Club, member of the Four Lakes Country Club and the Quail Creek Country Club in Naples. He was also a former board member and trustee of Grace United Methodist Church, member of Moorings Presbyterian Church in Naples, 1946 graduate of Indiana University, attended Indiana University Law School, member of Acacia Fraternity and the Sigma Delta Kappa Fraternity.

Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church. Forest G. Hay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
