Winona (Voorhees) Schaar

Winona Scharr, 91, died January 26, 2015 in Omaha, NE. Preceded in death by her husband, Ray Schaar Sr. and siblings Virginia Walker, Joseph (Bud) Voorhees, and Francis Harrell.

Survived by son and daughter-in-law Ray Schaar and Linda Miller of Omaha, Nebraska.

Winona was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan June 29, 1923. She attended Nursing School in Michigan where she received her R.N... In her 60 plus years of nursing she was a Registered Nurse then Director of Nurses at hospitals in Chicago, and in Bull Shoals and Mountain Home, Arkansas.

After working in hospitals she moved on to become the Director of Nurses in Mountain Home for many years at Good Samaritan Nursing Home. At the end of her career near 80 years of age she volunteered with the local Hospice. She was an active member of the Playhouse and a founding member of the Unity Church of Bull Shoals.

She moved to Omaha, Nebraska to be near her son and wife in 2011.

No services will be held in Omaha. She will be cremated and her ashes taken to the Chicago area. Donations may be made to St. Jude Hospice of Omaha, NE.
