SOUTH BEND - Irma Ray peacefully passed away May 31,2013. She was 95. Irma was born Irma Meta Kristowski April 27, 1918, in Detroit, Michigan, to Meta (Braun) Kristowski and Gustav A Kristowski. Irma had 2 brothers, Arnie and Herb, and 4 sisters, Ruth, Florence, Charlotte (Babe) and Renata, all of whom have preceded Irma in death.

The family moved to South Bend, Indiana, when Irma was a child and she spent nearly 60 years of her life there. She graduated from Riley High School and the South Bend College of Commerce. She was then employed at Studebaker Corporation as a secretary in the billing department.

She married Marion A Ray in 1947. Irma had one child, Sharon M Ray, and was a homemaker. Irma's husband passed away in 1968 after 20 happy years of marriage. Irma moved to Loveland, Colorado, in 1975 in order to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She has 3 grandchildren, Jane (Lilly-Ray) Huxman, Sarah Lilly-Ray, Jake Jacobs and a great-granddaughter, Paisley Ray Jacobs.

Irma moved to Saguache, Colorado, in 2003 to be close to her daughter who had moved to Crestone. Irma enjoyed yard work, gardening and mowing the grass. While living in Indiana she spent much time at Lake Michigan which she dearly loved. She also enjoyed the mountains, hiking, and walking in town to do her errands. Irma spent much time in Sharon's coffee shop in Moffat, Colorado, visiting with customers and relaxing in her rocker by the woodstove. After Irma broke her hip in 2011, she spent the last 2 years of her life in Alamosa, Colorado, at the San Luis Care Center, a place she loved and called her home.
