George C. Palmer Jr.

George C. Palmer Jr. 55, of 256 Trade Winds Ave., Naples, Fla., formerly of South Bend, died at 12:01 a.m. today in the Golf Drive Residence, Naples, after a six-week illness. He was the former co-owner and employee of the Reliable Dairy, Inc., South Bend, and a retired employee of the Vanderbilt Club, Naples. He was born on July 8, 1917, in South Bend, and had lived in South Bend most of his life, moving to Naples four years ago.

On July 9, 1938, in South Bend, he married Ruth Hawbaker, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Miss Sharlee Palmer of Naples, and a brother, Robert J. of South Bend.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Orvis•Palmer Funeral Home where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Jack O. Burrell, pastor of the Calvary Baptist Church. officiating. Burial will be in Southlawn Cemetery. Mr. Palmer was a World War II Army veteran, and a member of Post 303, the American Legion, Naples. He was a former member of the South Bend Elks Club. Memorials may be given to the St. Joseph County Cancer Society.
