PASKIN, SAM, 81, formerly of South Bend, IN, Orlando, FL and more recently Glenview, IL, is survived by his wife, Sylvia; sons, Rick and Steve; daughters-in-law, Debbie and Shannon; grandchildren, Marc, Kendall and Mike; and sister Sylvia. He was predeceased by parents, Meyer and Sophie; brother, Henry and sister, Charlotte. His son, Marc, died in 1977. Sam was born in South Bend and raised in a home adjacent to his family's grocery store on S. Michigan Street.

Following graduation from Riley High School, Sam enlisted in the Army, served in Japan following WWII, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Tech Sergeant. He then attended Indiana University in Bloomington, IN, graduating with a BS degree in Marketing.

He met the love of his life, Sylvia (aka "Shayne") while attending IU, they married in 1949 and settled in South Bend. Sam's passion for cars led him to a career in the auto business in South Bend. Sam and Sylvia relocated to Orlando FL in 1981, where Sam continued to pursue his passion for cars as the owner/operator of the Midas Muffler Shop on S. Orange Avenue. Sam was an active member of Orlando's Kiwanis Club. He retired from business in 1991 enabling him to pursue his other passion - golf. In 2005, Sam and Sylvia moved to Glenview IL to be closer to their family. "Big Sam" will be remembered by family and friends for his funny quips and colorful personality.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 8, 2007 at 1:30PM in the chapel at the Hebrew Orthodox Cemetery, corner of Jefferson and Logan, Mishawaka, IN. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The McGann Hay, Forest G. Hay Chapel is handling arrangements.
