SOUTH BEND - Jack A. Zimbro, 86, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 5:16 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, 2012, in Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation, South Bend. He was born on March 28, 1926, in St. Joseph County, IN, to John B. and Estella (Stevens) Zimbro. Mr. Zimbo is survived by his friend, Kathryn Strader of South Bend, IN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bessie (Kirby) Zimbro in April 1992.

Mr. Zimbro was a lifelong resident and a graduate from Riley High School. He served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II, and was the recipient of the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

He was employed for 15 years as a truck driver for Railway Express. He worked at Martin's Supermarket, retiring after 10 years of service. Mr. Zimbro was a member of the DAV #6, American Legion Post #284 and the VFW #1167.

There will be no services or visitation. Entombment will take place at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend, at a later date. Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, and Southlawn Cremation Services are assisting with the arrangements. Contributions in memory of Jack A. Zimbro may be made to the DAV, Federal Building, 575 N.
