Marie C. (Zornig) Meilner

Aug. 11, 1925 - June 2, 2001

Marie C. Meilner, 75, residing on Helmen Drive, South Bend, IN, passed away at 7:55 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2001, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. Mrs. Meilner retired in 1990 from the University of Notre Dame as Administrative Assistant for Dean Emil Hofman after 25 years of service. She was born on August 11, 1925, in Chicago, IL, to the late Albert E. and Marie Margaret (Boquist) Zornig, and resided here since 1940, coming from Chicago.

On March 16, 1944, in South Bend, IN, she married Roy J. Meilner, who survives. Surviving with her loving husband of 57 years, Roy, are two daughters, Linda Feltman and Laura Meilner, both of Osceola, IN; a son and his wife, Larry and Sheryl Meitner of North Liberty, IN; four grandsons, Matthew Basil, Jason Basil, Rowland Rose and John Rose; a brother, Robert Zornig of Tempe, AZ; and her step-mother, Edith Zornig of Mishawaka.

One brother, Albert Zornig, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Meitner was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church; volunteer and board member of Women's Auxiliary at Memorial Hospital; and was an animal lover and strong supporter of the St. Joseph County Humane Society. 

Memorial services for Mrs. Meilner will he held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday. June 7. 2001. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 805 South 29th Street. South Bend. Rev. Daniel Struefert, pastor of the church. will officiate. There will be no visitation Palmer Funeral Home. South Bend, is handling arrangements. Contributions in memory of Marie C Meitner may be donated to Hospice of St. Joseph County, 111 Sunnybrook Court. South Bend, IN 46637, or to the donor's choice.
