Clement Edwin Swinehart

VIRGINIA BEACH - Capt. Clement E. Swinehart, U.S. Air Force, retired, 87, formerly of Brighton Gardens, died Feb. 4, 2004, in Norfolk.

He was born in South Bend, Ind., and was predeceased by his wife, Mary L. Swinehart. Capt. Swinehart retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1962 following 20 years of service. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea. He was a member of Haygood United Methodist Church, and the Methodist Men, life member of the Davis Corner Volunteer Rescue Squad was a Mason and Shriner.

He is survived by three daughters, Valerie Swinehart of Salt Lake City, Utah, Patricia Payne of Virginia Beach and Kimi McGann of Spokane, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Betty Swinehart of Sorrento, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Meghan McGann and Jack McGann.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Haygood United Methodist Church by the Rev. W. Michael Nobles. Burial will follow with military honors in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Friday from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Davis Corner Volunteer Rescue Squad, 4672 Haygood Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23455.
