Virginia (Curran) Lochmandy
Virginia "Ginny" (Curran) Lochmandy Feb. 12, 1930 - Feb. 11, 2015 SOUTH BEND - Ginny was born in South Bend, IN, and lived here all her life. She was the daughter of Albert and Esther (Woolet) Curran. Her parents are deceased. On June 7, 1952, she married Elmer A. Lochmandy. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1996.
She is survived by two brothers, Robert L. Curran (Babara) of South Bend and Richard J. Curran (Dorothy) of Kokomo, IN.
Preceding her in death were three sisters, Marie McMann, Margaret Rothrock and Ruth Rohleder; and one brother, Herbert Curran.
Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Also many great-nieces and nephews. Special friends, Alice Pillow, Lorraine Elias and Pearl Koczwara from Arborwood survive.
Ginny graduated from Riley High School in 1948.
She retired from NIPSCO in 1990 after 40 years of service. She was a Cubs fan and Notre Dame football and basketball fan. She also enjoyed watching the Notre Dame women's basketball games. Ginny was known for sending cards for every occasion.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. today, Feb. 13, 2015, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home North, 17033 Cleveland Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Anthony De Padua Catholic Church, 2120 E. Jefferson Blvd. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to Mass in the church. A parish Rosary will be held at 5:00 p.m. Donations may be made in Ginny's name to the Center for Hospice Care, 501 Comfort Place, Mishawaka, IN 46545; or to the donor's choice.
