MARCH 14, 1930 – JUNE 1, 2015
Wayne Theodore Hoover, 85, went to be with the Lord and reunite with his loved ones Monday, June 1, 2015.
Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 8, in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Chapel. Visitation: 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home.
Memorials: May be made to a charity of choice. Wayne favored organizations that help cancer patients, as well as children's and veterans' charities.
Wayne was born March 14, 1930, in Mishawaka, Ind. He graduated from Riley High School in South Bend and attended the University of Evansville. There he played football and met his future wife, Yvonne Lockridge. After graduating from the University of Evansville, he entered the Air Force and began pilot training. During his time in the Air Force, he flew T-33s and F-86s. After his discharge from the Air Force, he became a commercial pilot for Braniff International Airways until his retirement in 1990.
Wayne was a member of First United Methodist Church
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters.
Survivors: His wife of 61 years, Yvonne Lockridge Hoover: son, Michael Wayne Hoover; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Lynn Griffin (Dowell), Sharon Ann Gallegos (Robert) and Diane Elaine Bunting (Frank); eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
