Julia (Kertai) Deranek, 91 has obtained her angel wings as she now looks over us as we await our own heavenly journey to Our Lord. Julia passed away on June 4, 2022 at Acres of Indiana, New Carlisle, IN.

Julia was born on June 29, 1930 in South Bend to Nandor and Margaret (Czigler) Kertai. On August 4, 1951, she married Joseph "Joe" Deranek in Our Lady of Hungary Church. Joe preceded her in death on January 10, 2002. They are now joined together as they watch over our families.

Julia is also predeceased by her sister Mary Lynn, and brother Nandor Kertai. Julia is survived by her daughter June (Deranek) Gorny and her husband Robert, son Jack Deranek; and daughter Joan (Deranek) Lacay, five grandchildren Mary Van Vooren and her fiance' Tim Hull, Nathan Gorny and his fiance' Sarah Klus, Crystale (Allie) Gorny, Joseph (Tanya) Lacay and Jessica (Chris) Van DeVeire, five great-grandchildren Alexis VanVooren, Hunter VanVooren, Kaden Gorny, Sophia Lacay, and Carson VanDeveire, and step-great-grandchild Brayden VanDeVeire.

Julia graduated from Riley High School in the Class of 1948. She worked for the Studebaker Corporation and left employment to raise her family for a time. Julia worked several other jobs including Robo Type Letter Service and then went on and retired from Whiteford Leasing Company in 1990. Julia was a very kind and gentle soul who loved to help others in any way she could. She passed on the tradition to her daughters of making kieflies for the holidays. She was always supportive of our dad as he coached football for Our Lady of Hungary School and helped him form the lives of many young men. She has left an indelible mark on the lives she has touched. She earned the title "well done good and faithful servant." Thank you mom, for being such a light in our lives and truly being there for each of us in your own way. We will see you again one day rejoicing in the Lord as you have taught us to trust in Him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00pm Friday, June 10, 2022 in Our Lady of Hungary Catholic Church.
