Lorraine Marie` (Lambert) Van De Wielle

May 17, 1930 ~ July 5, 2023 93 Years Old

Lorraine Marie Van De Wielle, 93, of South Bend passed away at home on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. 

Lorraine was born in South Bend, IN on May 17, 1930, to Antone Lambert and Claira (Van Devorde) Kurzhal.  On May 26, 1950, in Our Lady of Hungary Church in South Bend, she married the love of her life and best friend, Elmer Van De Wielle who preceded her in death on March 6, 2017.  Lorraine is also preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Elmer Kurzhal; father-in-law, Rena Van De Wielle; sisters, Annette Simmons, Eleanor Monahan and Margaret (Robert) Davis; and brothers, Lucian Lambert and Antone Lambert Jr.  She is survived by her children, David (Sharon) Van De Wielle, Rene Van De Wielle and Mary (Bob) Means; grandchildren, Matt (Lindsay) Van De Wielle, Andrew (Amy) Van De Wielle, Amy (Adam) Branch, Kyle and Ashton (Drew) Gaugler; greatgrandchildren, Gabrielle, Annabelle, Brinley, Ella and Breanna; brother, Charles (Pauline) Lambert; niece, Jackie (Tom Schnellenberger) Simmons and her children, Jason, Jenna and Claire along with many other nieces and nephews.

Lorraine was a 1948 graduate of Riley High School.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 2822 Corpus Christi Dr., South Bend, IN 46628 with visitation 2 hours prior to the mass.  Lorraine will be laid to rest in Highland Cemetery in South Bend following the mass.
