Kenneth J. Ruppert

SOUTH BEND - Kenneth J. Ruppert, 85, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Hospice House in South Bend, IN.
He was born on November 6, 1930 to the late Peter, Sr. and Margaret (Grogan) Ruppert in South Bend, IN, and was a lifelong area resident. Along with his parents; he was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Zimmer; and his brother, Peter “Pete” Ruppert, Jr.
Kenneth graduated in 1948 from Riley High School in South Bend, IN.
He retired in 1987 from the former Bendix Corporation, where he worked for 38 years in the shipping department.
On January 16, 1960, he married Mary Ann Zeigler at St. Patrick Catholic Church in South Bend, IN. She passed away on August 9, 2009. Kenneth is survived by one daughter, Jeanie Ruppert-Boling of Granger, IN; two sons, Christopher Ruppert of Dowagiac, MI; Mark (Julie) Ruppert of Granger, IN; six grandchildren, Preston, Grant, Colleen, Sara, James, Rebecca; and a niece, Carol Danner of Illinois.
Kenneth was a lifelong member of The Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Elkhart, IN. He was an avid Notre Dame and Chicago sports fan; and loved to fish, swim, and ride on his Pontoon Boat. In his youth, he enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball.
Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN, where a Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 p.m. in Kaniewski Funeral Home.
